Two concerts celebrating the 30th anniversary of Jason Robert Brown's song cycle, Songs for a New World, will be presented September 21 at 3 PM and 7:30 PM at London's Eventim Apollo.
Brown (Parade, 13, The Bridges of Madison County) will conduct his debut musical, which will feature four Broadway favorites: Tony nominee Shoshana Bean (Mr. Saturday Night, Hell's Kitchen), Tituss Burgess (Oh, Mary!; The Little Mermaid), Jordan Fisher (Dear Evan Hansen, Moulin Rouge! The Musical, Sweeney Todd), and Tony nominee Joy Woods (Gypsy, The Notebook)
Songs for a New World is a collection of powerful songs examining life, love, and the choices ordinary people make when faced with an extraordinary moment.
Brown's first produced show was originally seen Off-Broadway in 1995 at WPA Theatre directed by Daisy Prince starring Brooks Ashmanskas, Andréa Burns, Jessica Molaskey, and Billy Porter. A 2018 staging for the Encores! Off-Center series featured Bean, Colin Donnell, Mykal Kilgore, and Solea Pfeiffer.
The upcoming concerts are produced by Lambert Jackson and Positive Sum.
