Casting is now complete for the Canadian premiere of Jeanine Tesori and David Lindsay-Abaire's Tony-winning Kimberly Akimbo, in a new staging directed by Robert McQueen.
A
co-production of Montreal's Segal Centre for Performing Arts and David and Hannah Mirvish, performances will begin in Montreal November 23 and continue through December 21 before transferring to Toronto’s CAA Theatre January 15–February 8,
2026.
As previously reported, Tony nominee Louise Pitre, Broadway's original Donna Sheridan in Mamma Mia!, will lead the company in the title role. Pitre will be joined by the newly announced Tess Benger as Kimberly’s mom Pattie; Cyrus Lane as Buddy, Kimberly’s dad; Kristen Peace as Kimberly’s Aunt Debra; Thomas Winiker as Seth; Jake Cohen as Aaron; Taylor Lovelace as Teresa; Luca McPhee as Delia; and Kyle Jonathon as Martin. Tracy Michailidis is the Kimberly Akimbo standby.
The work premiered Off-Broadway at Atlantic Theater Company before moving to Broadway in 2022, ultimately winning Best Musical at the 2023 Tony Awards. The show won five Tonys in total. Based on Lindsay-Abaire's 2000 play of the same name, the work follows Kimberly Levaco, a New Jersey teenager with a rare disorder that causes her to age four times faster than normal. Lindsay-Abaire wrote the Tony-winning book from his earlier script, along with penning lyrics to Tesori's music for the Tony-winning score. Victoria Clark won her second Tony for her performance in the musical's title role.
The upcoming production will also choreography by Allison Plamondon and direction by Chris Barillaro.
The Canadian premiere, part of the 2025-206 Off-Mirvish season, is being presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International.
