Film & TV News See Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson in New Trailer for King Lear The Richard Eyre-helmed adaptation will be available to stream on Amazon Prime beginning September 28.

Amazon has released a new trailer for its new adaptation of Shakespeare's King Lear, set in the fictional present and starring Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins as the infamous monarch. Emma Thompson, Emily Watson, and Florence Pugh play his daughters—Goneril, Regan, and Cordelia, respectively.

Watch the new trailer above. The film, a co-production with BBC, will be available to stream September 28.

King Lear is helmed by theatre, opera, and film director Richard Eyre (The Dresser, The Other Man), who also adapted the script.

Rounding out the cast are Jim Broadbent, who plays the Earl of Gloucester, Jim Carter as the Earl of Kent, Tobias Menzies as the Duke of Cornwall, John Macmillan as Edmund, Anthony Calf as the Duke of Albany, Simon Manyonda as the Duke of Burgundy, and Chukwudi Iwuji, recently seen on the Delacorte Theater stage as Othello, as the King of France.
