"I hope that one day an eccentric billionaire will want to invest in a production of the show," Waters, a founder of the band Pink Floyd, said. "I'd really like to mount Ça Ira in Paris. I talked about it with Gerard Mortier when he took over the Opéra Bastille; he seemed interested, but didn't know if could take the risk of putting on a work by a pop musician."

Ça Ira, which takes place during the French Revolution, will be performed live for the first time on November 17 in Rome's Santa Cecilia Auditorium. A double-CD recording of the opera, featuring baritone Bryn Terfel, was released by Sony BMG in September.
