Manhattan Theatre Club has named Robert Carroll its new general manager, with his tenure to begin April 1.
The role is the latest in a decade-long career with the company for Carroll. He first joined as a company management intern, and has since served in every position within the company's general management department, most recently as associate general manager.
“We're thrilled that Rob will be stepping up to serve as MTC’s general manager," say Artistic Director Lynne Meadow and Executive Director Chris Jennings in a joint statement. "Over the past 10 years, Rob has shown a deep commitment to MTC’s values, standards, and mission and has been an important part of our theatre. We look forward to the contributions he will make in his new role here."
"As a theatre student, I dreamed of working at Manhattan Theatre Club," adds Carroll. "As a theatre professional, I have been so fortunate to grow here under the tutelage of true pillars of the industry. I am thrilled and honored to work alongside Chris and Lynne in this new role, supporting MTC’s extraordinary staff and ever-exciting roster of artists."
Manhattan Theatre Club presents productions on Broadway at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre and Off-Broadway at New York City Center. The Friedman is currently hosting Joshua Harmon's Prayer for the French Republic through March 3, while the Off-Broadway space is presenting John Patrick Shanley's Brooklyn Laundry, currently in previews and set to open February 28. Rachel McAdams will star in the company's upcoming Mary Jane, beginning at the Friedman April 2.
