Anyone looking for an evening of Irish entertainment might consider Nov. 27 in New York City. That night, at either end of town and from opposite ends of the music-theatre spectrum, Riverdance’s Brian Kennedy will perform his last solo concert downtown at Arlene Grocery while uptown at Feinstein’s at the Regency, Rosemary Clooney will be opening a one-week engagement.
The two gigs are unrelated, but variety is a Kennedy theme: the Irish singer has explored a variety of musical projects while he’s been in New York working on Riverdance—On Broadway. A popular recording artist, he has been doing solo concerts at Arlene Grocery since July. While he has been in New York, Kennedy has twice had the opportunity to perform for President Clinton.
After leaving Riverdance on Dec. 3, Kennedy and band will conduct a December-January tour of the United Kingdom with The Corrs.
There is a $10 cover charge at Arlene Grocery, which is located at 95 Stanton Street (between Orchard and Ludlow Streets). For information call (21) 358-1633.
