Other performers at the festival will include Paul Simon, Carlos Santana, John McLaughlin, Susan Tedeschi, B.B. King, George Benson, Diana Krall, Dr. John, Paolo Nutini, Arcade Fire, Esperanza Spalding, Seal, Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock, Marcus Miller, Wayne Shorter, Coolio, Naughty by Nature, Digital Underground, House of Pain and Deep Purple. Martin will be the opening act on July 6, and Minnelli will perform July 15. Sting's previously announced concert, playing on July 11, is sold out.
The Montreux Jazz Festival was founded by Claude Nobs in 1967. According to their site, the festival "has become an unmissable event for music fans in Switzerland and around the world." The concert plays 16 days at 12 venues.
