Four-time Tony Award nominee Raúl Esparza will join two-time Tony Award–winning composer Jason Robert Brown August 9 for two performances (8 PM and 10 PM) at downtown’s SubCulture.
The concert marks the 51st engagement in Brown’s ongoing artistic residency with the music venue; the 50th was a concert at Town Hall featuring Brown and Stephen Sondheim in support of the Brady Campaign.
As is custom every month, audiences can expect to hear songs from Brown’s catalog and, perhaps, a new song of the month.
Esparza was last seen on Broadway starring in 2012’s Leap of Faith. Prior to that, he earned Tony nominations for his work in Speed-the-Plow, The Homecoming, Company, and Taboo; additional Broadway credits include Arcadia, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Cabaret, and The Rocky Horror Show.
He recently finished a workshop of Galileo, directed by Michael Mayer, at Powerhouse Theater, and is set for the upcoming run of Road Showas part of the Encores! Off-Centerseason at New York City Center.
