The drama about a homeless couple who have their faith and fortune tested began previews Aug. 3 and officially opened Aug. 29. Critics praised the production. It was originally scheduled to play an extended run through Oct. 2.
Jonathan Bank directs the production that is part of the Mint's Deevy Project, dedicated to producing plays by the late Irish playwright. In 2010 the Mint also staged Deevy's Wife to James Whelan and will present Deevy's Katie Roche in August 2012.
The cast includes Rosie Benton (Les Liaisons Dangereuses), Paul Carlin, Roberston Carricart, Bairbre Dowling, Con Horgan (Anna Christie), Eli James (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), Aidan Redmond (Wife of James Whelan), Wrenn Schmidt (Be a Good Little Widow) and Fiana Toibin (Shining City).
Temporal Powers has set design by Vicki R. Davis, costume design by Andrea Varga, lighting design by Jeff Nellis and sound design by Jane Shaw.
According to the Mint, "Temporal Powers tells the moving story of a great love straining under the weight of conflicting passions. Desperate and destitute, Michael and Min Powers take refuge for the night in a crumbling ruin. Buried within the walls could be the answer to their prayers — money for a fresh start — if only they could agree to use it. What follows is a fierce moral struggle that no one can win."
