The Ogunquit Playhouse is having one season of massive productions. Fresh off the closing of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, the Playhouse in Ogunquit, ME, opens Priscilla Queen of the Desert August 12.

With a book by Stephan Elliot and Allan Scott, the musical earned a Tony nomination for Best Musical in 2010 and a win for Costume Design. This production is complete with over 500 imaginative and outrageous costumes and 200 headdresses designed by Tony winners Tim Chappel and Lizzy Gardiner. Elliot and Scott’s story tracks Tick, Bernadette and Adam as they travel across the Australian Outback in their party bus, Priscilla, to reunite Tick with his young son. Tony winner Jarrod Emrick (Damn Yankees) plays Tick, William Selby is cast as Bernadette, and Matthew Marks (The Book of Mormon) plays Adam. The three divas are played by Lisa Helmi-Johanson, Coleen Sexton and Debra Walton.

The score features disco hits from the likes of Tina Turner, Cyndi Lauper and The Village People. Resident director of School of Rock on Broadway, David Ruttura, directs with choreography by Gerry McIntyre. The production features scenic design by Stanley A. Meyer and Jason M. Curtis, sound design by Don Hanna, lighting design by Richard Latta and musical direction by Michael McAssey.

The production plays through September 3.
