The lineup of plays featured in this year's First Light Festival have been revealed. Since 1998, Ensemble Studio Theatre and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation have developed over 300 plays that challenge and broaden the view of science in the popular imagination through their partnership, the EST/Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Science & Technology Project. Each fall, the First Light festival presents select works that have been developed through the project.

This year's festival, held at Ensemble Studio Theatre in New York City, will include Mikaela Berry's Superquiz!, Karina Billini's Apple Bottom, and Jacquelyn Reingold's Fear Less. Tickets to each play's presentation are free, but must be reserved on the Ensemble Studio Theatre website.

Examining the role of fear in two different women's lives over the course of 25 years, Reingold's Fear Less will open the series, presenting November 6 at 3 PM.

Berry's Superquiz! will come next on December 11 at 3 PM, following the "exciting, sometimes confusing, and nerdy road to victory" for an academic decathlon team of teenagers in Harlem.

Billini's Apple Bottom will close out the series on January 15 at 3 PM. It follows humble neighbor Andrea and high-strung influencer Belinda, who are both post-BBL patients at Apple Bottom Spa.

It has also been announced that submissions for this year's Sloan grant are now open through November 5.
