Playbill.com polled our readers via Facebook and Twitter asking them to share their choices for the lead role of Fiyero. Their choices ranges from previous cast members and Broadway stars to Hollywood actors.
Here are some reader responses followed by our own commentary.
Tom Quicksell: Aaron Tveit
Laura Beth Dailey: Aaron Tveit :o)
Ale Valdemar: Tveit for Fiyero!<3 Darren Criss for Boq maybe
Tylar Jennings Holloway: AARON FREAKING TVEIT. IF THAT MAN IS NOT IN THAT MOVIE IM GONNA BE SO MAD
Katy Lynn Patterson: AARON TVEIT!!! Why is this even a question!? Daniel Radcliffe as Boq!
@andykhodak: @playbill @WICKED_Musical @aarontveitnet Aaron Tveit, he was one of the best Fiyeros on Broadway, and the camera loves him as well!
Aaron Tveit, who originated roles on Broadway in Next to Normal and Catch Me If You Can, was the most popular choice amongst our readers for the role of Fiyero. Tveit, who also starred in Hairspray, is no stranger to the role, having played Fiyero in the Broadway production of Wicked in 2008. The actor, who was recently seen on screen in the film adaptation of Les Misérables, also played a solo concert engagement at 54 Below, which sold out in less than five minutes. Read about his concert here.
Anne Powers: Zac Efron
Juhstin Rahmihres: I think Zac Efferon would be great for it and it would not hurt the box office
Tyler Temple: Zac Efron is an interesting choice, I wouldn't mind seeing him. Aaron Tveit or Jeremy Jordan would be great too. Zac Efron rose to fame starring as Troy Bolton in Disney's "High School Musical" trilogy. The actor, known for his film work in "17 Again," "The Lucky One" and "New Year's Eve," also demonstrated his musical chops as Link Larkin in the film adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical Hairspray. Perhaps he can return to his musical roots as Fiyero in a screen adaptation of Wicked.
Nurse Teresa Adam Lambert.
Nicole Leigh Heyns: Adam Lambert! He already played the role on stage so well that he deserves to go to the screen as well! I also do agree with Darren Criss though...hmm, decisions decisions! Singer-songwriter Adam Lambert, who finished as runner-up on the eighth season of the popular reality singing competition "American Idol," was a former Fiyero in the national tour of Wicked. He is known for his television and concert appearances, but has yet to take on a prominent film role. Fiyero would mark the perfect film transition for the vocal powerhouse.
Lexie Krejci: Darren criss all the way Darren Criss, who rose to fame on the Fox hit musical series "Glee," made his Broadway debut in 2012 when he succeeded Daniel Radcliffe in the Broadway revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. The actor played J. Pierrepont Finch, and the majority of his run was completely sold out. We're sure that he'd be a great fit as Fiyero in a film adaptation of Wicked, and fans of "Glee" would likely flock to the theatres.
Denise Olney Malfet: Justin Timberlake Grammy and Emmy Award winner Justin Timberlake, who rose to fame as the lead singer of the 90s boy band *N Sync, took home the Vanguard Award at this year's MTV Video Music Awards and performed a medley of his countless hit songs. The performer, who constantly proves to be a triple threat, has been seen on screen in "Friends With Benefits" and "The Social Network," among many others.
Mary Currall: Jeremy Jordan!!!!
Meaghan Gates: Zac Efron or Jeremy Jordan (could be fun since he hasn't played it) Jeremy Jordan, who was Tony-nominated for his performance in the Disney musical Newsies, recently wrapped filming on the screen adaptation of Jason Robert Brown's The Last Five Years. Jordan, who also appeared on Broadway in Bonnie & Clyde, Rock of Ages and West Side Story, starred in the final season of the NBC musical "Smash" and the film "Joyful Noise."

@ctbilello: @playbill @WICKED_Musical Jonathan Groff! Tony Award nominee Jonathan Groff rose to fame playing the radical teenager Melchior Gabor in the Tony-winning musical Spring Awakening. The actor, who has gone on to success on the small screen in the television series "Glee" and "Boss," will appear in the HBO film adaptation of Larry Kramer's The Normal Heart and "Looking," a new HBO comedy series about four gay friends. We would love to see him make the jump to a starring role on the big screen. Read the recent Playbill.com interview with Groff here.

@Last_five_years: @playbill @WICKED_Musical I like the idea of Skylar Astin Skylar Astin, who starred in the original Broadway cast of the Tony-winning Spring Awakening, played Jesse, the love interest, in the film "Pitch Perfect," about competing college a cappella groups. The actor has also appeared on the television series "Girls" and as Mark in the Hollywood Bowl production of Rent.

@LishaLove1: @playbill @WICKED_Musical I'm telling you the current Broadway cast of @DerekKlena Fiyero..He's amazing And @LindsayMendez best Elphaba ever Derek Klena, who starred in the Off-Broadway productions of Carrie and Dogfight, is currently making his Broadway debut as Fiyero in Wicked. The actor will also play Fiyero in the show's upcoming tenth anniversary performance. Read the recent Playbill.com interview with Klena and his co-stars Lindsay Mendez and Katie Rose Clarke here.
Peggy Sollmann Garcia: It should be the original Fiyero, Norbert Leo Butz
@_13andfearless_: @playbill @WICKED_Musical Norbert Leo Butz! Norbert Leo Butz originated the role of Fiyero in Broadway's Wicked. The two-time Tony Award winner has also starred in the Broadway productions of Rent, Thou Shalt Not, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Is He Dead?, Speed-the-Plow, Enron, Catch Me If You Can, Dead Accounts and will be seen in the upcoming Big Fish. Here's hoping he will reunite with his original co-stars, Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth.
