Groundhog Day will no longer go on the road as initially planned. The musical adaptation of the 1993 comedy was slated to embark on an 18-month tour, as initially announced when the Broadway production posted its closing notice at the August Wilson Theatre.

Composer Tim Minchin, who earned a Tony nomination for his score, made the announcement via Twitter; Playbill has reached out to representatives for the show for further comment.

The Broadway production opened in April 2017 and starred Andy Karl, who earned a Tony nomination for his performance as Phil Connors, a weatherman forced to relive Groundhog Day in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, on an endless loop. Karl also won an Olivier Award for the show’s world premiere at London’s Old Vic.

The musical received seven additional Tony nominations including Best Musical, though it failed to pick up any wins. It closed September 17 after playing 31 previews and 176 regular performances.
