John Erman staged the reading of Joseph L. Mankiewicz's 1950 screenplay, a backstage drama. Bening and Russell were joined onstage by Brian Bedford, Peter Gallagher, Angela Lansbury, Cynthia Nixon, John Slattery, Zoe Caldwell, Joel Grey, Jennifer Tilly, Jessica Cummings, Maura Lisabeth Malloy and Victor Joel Ortiz. Vocalist and musician Steve Ross served as pianist.
