Olivia "Lady Charlotte" Cook, Jazz Pianist, Dies
Jazz pianist and vocalist Olivia Cook, known as "Lady Charlotte," died on Tuesday, November 9, the Associated Press reports. She was 91.
A fixture in New Orleans jazz clubs, Cook began her career as the only woman in Herbert Leary's 17-member band. She played Dixieland-style and traditional jazz with Papa French and his sons George and Bob French, Wallace Davenport, Danny Barker, Louis Nelson, as well as her own band.
