A developmental production of the new neo-noir musical Powerline Road begins its run at A.R.T./New York Theatres' Gurral Theater March 17, with performances continuing through April 1. The work features a book, music, and lyrics by Michael Finke.
Starring are Maggie Bera, Alex DeLeo, Cedrick Ekra, Elisa Galindez, Megan Koumis, Caroline Lellouche, Blake Price, and Jonny Rouse.
The work follows four Florida residents over one day facing such threats as the twisted world of social media to corruption in the private prison industrial complex. Powerline Road was first workshopped at Columbia College of Chicago and subsequently at Theatre Now New York.
The New York run is directed by Michael Bello, with musical direction by Jonathon Lynch and choreography by Kaitlyn Frank. The production features scenic design by Ezekiel Clare, costume design by Antonio Consuegra, lighting design by Paige Seber, sound design by Josh Liebert, and projection design by Ryan Belock. Orchestrations are by Alexander Sage Oyen, and Rick Sordelet serves as fight director and intimacy coordinator. Casting is by Erik Schark.
