Harris (Proof) — better known as the child prodigy in television's "Doogie Howser, M.D.") — currently stars alongside other '80s icons: pop singer Deborah Gibson (Sally Bowles) and "Happy Days" patriarch Tom Bosley (Herr Schultz). The latter actors are currently scheduled through June 11.

Mariette Hartley (Fraulein Schneider), Rick Holmes as (Clifford Bradshaw), Penny Ayn Maas (Fraulein Kost) and Peter Benson (Ernst Ludwig) also star.

Harris the latest in the lineup of actors to replace the Tony Award-winning originator of the role Alan Cumming. The other performers also include Michael Hall, Matt McGrath, Raul Esparza, and John Stamos.

Gibson joined a long line of varied actresses to play the role of Sally Bowles after the revival's Tony Award-winning originator Natasha Richardson. Others include Jennifer Jason Leigh, Mary McCormack, Susan Egan, Joely Fisher, Lea Thompson, Katie Finneran, Gina Gershon, Kate Shindle, Brooke Shields, Jane Leeves and Molly Ringwald.

The musical directed by Sam Mendes with Rob Marshall featuring the music of Kander, the lyrics of Ebb and book by Joe Masteroff, opened on Broadway March 19, 1998. It won Tony Awards that year including Best Revival of a Musical.

Roundabout Theatre Company artistic director Todd Haimes told Playbill On-Line (August 2002) that Cabaret will play one more year at the space and then close to make way for a revival of Stephen Sondheim's Assassins.
