News My Brilliant Friend Will Be Staged in London The first of Elena Ferrante’s novels will be seen at the Rose Theatre Kingston.
London's Rose Theatre Kingston will present a stage adaptation of Elena Ferrante's My Brilliant Friend in 2017, according to The New York Times.

The first of Ferrante's four internationally successful novels will hit the stage beginning February 25. The series, according to the New York daily, “traces the lives of two Neapolitan women from childhood in the 1950s, through subsequent decades of marriage, motherhood and careers.”

Melly Still will direct the production, which features an adaptation by April de Angelis. Casting has yet to be announced.

There has been much scrutiny over the true identity of novelist Ferrante. Claudio Gatti recently proposed in the New York Review of Books that the author of the novels is Italian translator Anita Raja.
