News Mulgrew Set for New NBC Hospital Series "Mercy" Golden Globe-nominated actress Kate Mulgrew has joined the cast of the NBC drama series "Mercy," which will premiere this fall.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Mulgrew, who recently appeared in the Broadway revival of Equus, will portray the mother of central character Veronica Flannigan. Actress Taylor Schilling stars in new one-hour drama that offers an inside look at hospital life from the point of view of its nurses. The cast of "Mercy" also features Jaime Lee Kirchner, Michelle Trachtenberg, Guillermo Diaz, James Tupper, Diego Klattenhoff and James LeGros.

Mulgrew's stage appearances include Our Leading Lady, Iphigenia 2.0, Tea at Five, Black Comedy, Titus Andronicus and The Exonerated. She is well known for her role as Captain Kathryn Janeway in "Star Trek: Voyager" and has also been seen on screen in "A Stranger Is Watching, "Ryan's Hope," "Mrs. Columbo" and "Black Donnellys."

"Mercy" will premiere at 8 PM on Sept. 23.
