Salonga originated the role of Kim in the 1989 production. The actress, who won the Olivier Award for her performance, auditioned for the role of Kim at 17 years old, singing "On My Own" from Les Misérables.

In the below video, Salonga — also a Tony Award winner for Miss Saigon — was asked to sing "Sun and Moon" and "The Movie in My Mind" for the creative team including the show's writers, Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil, and producer Cameron Mackintosh.

Noblezada, who is making her professional debut, stars as Kim. The recent high school graduate was discovered during the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (The Jimmy Awards) in New York City last June.

In the below videos, Noblezada bids farewell to high school with a final performance of "As Long as You're Mine" from Wicked and arrives in the West End and begins rehearsal for Miss Saigon, respectively.

The new production is directed by Laurence Connor with musical staging by Bob Avian and additional choreography by Geoffrey Garratt, production design by Totie Driver and Matt Kinley from an original concept by Adrian Vaux, costume design by Andreane Neofitou, orchestrations by William David Brohn, lighting design by Bruno Poet and sound design by Mick Potter. The musical supervisors are Stephen Brooker and John Rigby, with musical direction by Alfonso Casado Trigo.

As previously reported, producer Cameron Mackintosh plans to bring the new London production of Miss Saigon to Broadway in 2015 if the reviews are strong in Britain and a suitable theatre becomes available in New York.
