Brooklyn's National Sawdust presents an evening paying tribute to late singer-songwriter Laura Nyro April 22.

Curated by Tony-winning director Michael Mayer (Hedwig and the Angry Inch ), Laura Nyro Night begins at 8 PM. Mayer also hosts the evening, which features performances by composers Jeanine Tesori and Stephen Trask, who will draw connections between their music and Nyro's. Also scheduled to perform are Tony winner Lena Hall; novelist Michael Cunningham, who will share a special reading; singer and poet Carl Hancock Rux; rising 18-year-old vocalist Marla Toussaint; violinists Christian Hebel and Daniel Bernard Roumain; and guitarist Daniel Kajeckas.

National Sawdust is located at 80 North 6th Street in Brooklyn.
