Hosted by five-time Grammy nominee Feinstein, the evening features special guests Darren Criss, Leslie Odom, Jr., Kelli O'Hara, Aaron Tveit, Marilyn Maye, two-time Tony winner Christine Ebersole and 17-year-old “America’s Got Talent” finalist Julia Goodwin.
TV watchers can expect to enjoy songs by Johnny Mercer, Cole Porter, George and Ira Gershwin and more. In tribute to Frank Sinatra’s upcoming 100th birthday celebration, Feinstein and Criss perform an energized duet medley.
The all-star broadcast is directed by Annette Jolles and produced by Jonathan Burkhart. The stage show was written, produced and directed by Marc Cherry, creator of the hit television shows “Desperate Housewives” and “Devious Maids.” Executive producers are Lance Shultz and Jim Castle.
“Michael Feinstein shines a particularly glittering light on the Great American Songbook this coming New Year's Eve,” said Donald Thoms, PBS Vice President of Programming, said in an earlier statement. “Michael has secured a lineup of tremendous singers and performers, along with a swinging 17-piece band that viewers across America will find entertaining and memorable, whether they’re partying with a full house or enjoying a romantic evening for two.”
