PlayBlog Meet the New McKinley High Students: "Glee" Cast Members Lamarcus Tinker and Vanessa Lengies (Video) Lamarcus Tinker and Vanessa Lengies were introduced in the first episode of the third season of "Glee," entitled "The Piano Project," which aired Sept. 21 on Fox.

Tinker plays Shane, Mercedes' (Amber Riley) new supportive boyfriend, whom she met over the summer after a "breakup" with Sam Evans (Chord Overstreet). Since Overstreet did not sign on to return to the series, the show's producers found Mercedes a new love interest and Sam Evans was written off—his dad landed a new job, forcing him to relocate.

Lengies plays Sugar Motta, a new student at McKinley who has self-diagnosed Aspergers and auditioned for the New Directions, but was turned down because  of her obvious lack of talent. The New Directions are on the hunt for fresh talent since Sam Evans moved, Lauren Zizes (Ashley Fink) is too cool for the club and Quinn Fabray (Dianna Agron) has joined a new group—"the Skanks."

Here, Tinker and Lengies talk about meeting the cast of "Glee" and working on the upcoming season.
