The world premiere of Rock and Roll Man: The Alan Freed Story began performances at Bucks County Playhouse September 12. The production, which stars Tony nominee Alan Campbell and Emmy nominee George Wendt, is scheduled to run through October 1 in New Hope Pennsylvania.
The musical uncovers the true story of Alan Freed, the 1950s American disc jockey who discovered music that all of America wanted to hear, though no radio station would pay it. The show features an original score by Gary Kupper, who also wrote the book alongside Larry Marshak and Rose Caiola.
