Antony Marsellis will direct the Susan Charlotte play for Cause Célèbre that will run Oct. 7-31. Gene Castle will choreograph the production that has music by Billy Goldenberg (Ballroom).
In addition to Ackerman (Evita), the cast will also feature Emmy winner Marilyn Sokol (Conversations With My Father), Lisa Bostnar (Far and Wide), Kevin Stapleton ("One Life to Live") and Fatima Ptacek ("Miracle of Spanish Harlem").
According to producers, the play centers on "Mary (Ackerman), a former dancer who is losing her memory but never forgets a dance step. She is befriended by Rose (Sokol), a mother who has psychologically blocked out parts of her past. Mary through the dance of tango teaches Rose the importance of trust and enables her to come to terms with painful memories of her children in the past and move into the present."
As part of the run, dance veteran Marge Champion will participate in a Q&A session with the cast of Love Divided following the Oct. 7 performance.
Love Divided will have set design by Ray Klausen and lighting and sound design by Matt Berman.
Cause Célèbre will also offer a reading of Tennessee Williams' The Strangest Kind of Romance, starring Christine Baranski and Matthew Cowles Oct. 17 at the Kirk.
