Leslie Odom Jr. and Kara Young, currently starring opposite each other in the Broadway revival of Purlie Victorious, host the 5th annual Arthur Miller Foundation Honors November 6.
The ceremony, being held at City Winery, honors Pulitzer-winning playwright Martyna Majok, philanthropists Jerre and Mary Joy Stead, and New York City public school theatre teacher Talia Jaime.
The Arthur Miller Foundation (AMF) is a non-profit organization designed to provide support, certification, and training for theatre teachers in the tri-state area. The foundation has impacted 52,000 public school students in all 5 boroughs, as well as the Bridgeport Public Schools in Connecticut.
The Arthur Miller Foundation Honors is produced by AMF executive director Jaime Hastings. The AMF honors student ensemble will be directed by Sasha Hutchings. The ceremony will include cocktails, dinner, and performances.
Majok is receiving the AMF Legacy Award in celebration of her body of work. The Steads are reciving the AMF Humanitarian Award for their continued investment in AMF's education programs, providing the seed funding for AMF's first program expansion to Bridgeport Public Schools. Jaime is being honored with the AMF Excellence in Arts Education Award for her work as a public-school theatre educator.
