Tony winner KO (Moulin Rouge!, West Side Story) will star in the world premiere of the new musical Siluetas via Philadelphia's Power Street Theatre. Featuring a book and lyrics by Erlina Ortiz and music and lyrics by Robi Hager, the work will be staged at Temple University in Philadelphia May 31–June 23, 2024. Rebecca Aparicio is directing, with Abel Garriga serving as music director.
The show takes place during the 2016 election, centering on the friendship between ex-housewife Dinora and activist-artist Khalilah. Joining KO in the cast will be Angel Alzeidan, Garrick Vaughan, Guillermo Jemmott Jr., Victor Rodriguez Jr., and Florencia Cuenca.
“Power Street Theatre’s production of Siluetas will be the first time in my professional career, of over 25 years, that I know that my work and my values are being honored simultaneously,” says KO.
Prior to the world premiere staging, the work will be presented in concert at Theatre Horizon in Norristown, Pennsylvania, November 3-4. The concert cast will include KO, Angel Alziedan, Garrick Vaughan, Guillermo Jemmott Jr., Victor Rodriguez Jr., Tiffany Janell, Jessy Gruver, and Newton Buchanan.
The musical was previously developed at the 2022 National Musical Theatre Conference at The O'Neill Center, with KO, Aparicio, and Garriga all attached.
Tickets for the November concerts are available here. Ticketing details for the 2024 world premiere staging are forthcoming.
