City of Hope, the California-based cancer and diabetes research and treatment center, will present its 2017 Spirit of Life award to Tony Award-winning star Kelli O'Hara in recognition of “personal perseverance and philanthropy” in the fight against pancreatic cancer, a disease that took the life of her mother-in-law.
The charity described the star of Broadway’s The King and I and The Bridges of Madison County as “a passionate advocate for the early detection of pancreatic cancer.”
She is scheduled to accept the award from fellow TV and stage star Michael McKean (currently on Broadway in The Little Foxes) at the charity’s annual spring luncheon, 12:15 PM May 8 at The Plaza Hotel in New York City.
Along with O’Hara, Iris Dankner and Lisa Fuld will receive Spirit of Life Awards as well.
The event will cap a busy week for O’Hara, who is also scheduled to be honored May 1 at the New York Pops’ annual Carnegie Hall gala. Click here for details.
