Laura Osnes has found her oasis. With her dog eagerly leading the way, the two-time Tony nominee is all smiles as she walks through Central Park, the iconic 843-acre green space, relishing in the summer sun.
Says Osnes, “I’m so grateful for this space. You can forget all of the skyscrapers and the craziness for a minute. This is a respite for us. You’re able to find spots of peace here in the park.”
And, Osnes is taking those moments of relaxation when she can get them. The two-time Tony nominee has been spending her summer touring the country performing, most notably developing her concert series The Broadway Princess Party with Beauty and The Beast’s Susan Egan and music director Benjamin Rauhala. “I love the community, and I love the people that I get to work with. It’s inspiring to get to work with other artists and create something together!”

Accompanied by her dog Lyla, the actor explores the 843-acre green space. Osnes and husband Nate Johnson adopted Lyla when
Osnes was performing in Anything Goes on Broadway, and Lyla quickly burrowed her way into their hearts. “Any dog owner will tell you that they become a member of your family. Lyla is. She is such a source of joy and life.”
“I think you need a place to escape from the pressures of the daily New York city grind,” Osnes explains. “I think as artists, we thrust ourselves into our work, and part of what make you great at your job is getting caught up in it all. But finding those things that don’t revolve around the business are so important. You need to find those things away from the business that keep you grounded.”

It is finding time to exhale that allows Osnes to stay so busy. The two-time Tony nominee has been spending her summer touring the country and performing. “I’ve been so grateful to have so many cool concert opportunities. I feel like it’s worked my brain in a way because I’m doing new things all the time. When you’re in a show, it’s the same thing every day, and that’s a different skill. I feel so grateful that I’ve gotten to sing so much.”
