Jonathan Larson’s autobiographical musical Tick, Tick...BOOM! will be revived Off-Broadway this fall by the Keen Company. Set to run October 4-November 19, the production will star Nick Blaemire (The SpongeBob Musical, Glory Days). It officially opens October 20.

Keen Company artistic director Jonathan Silverstein will direct with music direction by Joey Chancey. David Auburn serves as script consultant on the production. Christine O’ Grady will choreograph.

Additional casting will be announced.

Written before his groundbreaking musical Rent, Larson’s Tick, Tick...BOOM! is described as “the story of an aspiring composer questioning his life choices on the eve of his thirtieth birthday. His girlfriend wants to get married and move out of the city, his best friend is making big bucks on Madison Avenue, but Jon is still waiting on tables and trying to write the great American musical. This exhilarating, funny, and moving work by the late Larson will speak to anyone who’s ever gotten lost on their way to finding their dreams.”

The Keen Company also announced plans to stage When It’s You, a world premiere by Courtney Baron that was first developed in Keen’s Playwrights Lab. Silverstein will also direct the play that runs February 21-April 8, 2017, at the Clurman Theatre. Opening night is set for March 9.

It’s characterized as a “personal look at the ripple effects that follow gun violence in contemporary America. Ginnifer is single, thirty-seven, and has just lost her mother to illness. She moves back to her hometown and learns her first love from high school is now at the center of a violent crime. Ginnifer must confront her relationship to the heinous act as well as her changing place in society, all while living in her dead mother's home. Timely and moving, When It’s You complexly and honestly explores America today.”
