Kathryn Luce plays troubled Catharine Holly, and veteran actress Joan Copeland is Mrs. Venable in the staging directed by Marilyn Fried at Abingdon Theatre Company's June Havoc Theatre, 312 West 36th Street. The cast also features Kelle Kerr as Sister Felicity, Robert Mobley as George Holly, Joan Porter as Mrs. Foxhill, Elizabeth Stearns as Mrs. Holly and Eric Martin Brown as Dr. Cukrowicz.

The staging is billed by producer Suddenly LLC as a "workshop production." Luce, who also goes by the professional name Kim Garfunkel, is the actress-singer wife of Art Garfunkel; Copeland is the sister of playwright Arthur Miller and a veteran of Broadway's The American Clock, Pal Joey, Two by Two and Off-Broadway's The American Plan and Isn't It Romantic?; director Fried was a student of Lee Strasberg and is a respected acting coach and member of the Actors' Studio of New York.

Suddenly Last Summer was originally presented as part of a double bill called Garden District and included the one-act Something Unspoken. Both plays are set in a house in the Garden District of New Orleans in 1936. The play was last presented on Broadway in 1995, and was recently presented Off-Broadway by Roundabout Theatre Company. The film version starred Elizabeth Taylor and Katharine Hepburn.

Williams' plays include The Glass Menagerie, A Streetcar Named Desire, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Summer and Smoke, The Rose Tattoo, Camino Real, Sweet Bird of Youth, Night of the Iguana and more.

The Suddenly creative team includes set designer Bill Stabile and costume designer Leslie Yarmo.

Performances are Tuesday through Saturday at 8 PM. Matinees are on Wednesdays at 2 PM.
