Adapted by Pulitzer-winner Tony Kushner, the classic will come back to the big screen through Focus Features and Amblin, with Chinoye Chukwu (Till) attached to direct and co-adapt alongside Kushner.
Wright will play the titular role of Willy Loman, while Spencer will portray his wife, Linda.
The Pulitzer-winning play first premiered on Broadway in 1949, and ran for 742 performances. Winning six Tonys for its premiere, the play has become one of the great American classics, having been revived on Broadway five times with a variety of top shelf stars taking on the leading role, including George C. Scott, Dustin Hoffman, Brian Dennehy, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and most recently, Wendell Pierce in a 2022 revival.
The play, which follows a traveling salesman and his family who are caught up in the madness of the all-too-often unreachable "American Dream," has been adapted numerous times for television. A 1951 film adaptation, starring Frederic March, was nominated for five Academy Awards.
