International News Japan’s All-Female Takarazuka Revue Will Bring Hit Indian Film RRR to the Stage

The hotly anticipated production kicks off the 110th anniversary season of the beloved company.

Less than one year after it's starry rise to the top of the film world, the hit Telugu film RRR (Roudram Ranam Rudhiram) is coming to the stage!

The epic action drama period film has been adapted into a stage musical by Japan’s all-female Takarazuka Revue as the opening delight of its 110th anniversary season. The Star Troupe, led by Makoto Rei, is performing in Hyogo through February 4, and will reprise the production in Tokyo February 23 through April 6.

The production will star Rei as Komaram Bheem, Hitomi Maisora as Jenny, and Chisei Akatsuki as A. Rama Raju.

They will be joined by Chigusa Miki as Bhajju, Natsu Shirotae as Neha, Makoto Oki as Om, Reo Kizaki as Scott, Yu Hiroka as Venkateswarlu, Rira Murasaki as Loki, Ryo Asamizu as Venkata, Ema Amahana as Peddayya, Saki Miono as Stephanie, Ryo Yunagi as Firrre, Homare Amaki as James, Honoka Kozakura as Catherine, Asa Seharu as Kamal, Miki Nanase as Yukta, Hana Nijo as Poppy, Kaoru Kisa as Waterrr, Shin Kiwami as Jake, Erise Ko as Henry, Sario Aomi as Edward, Rin Sayaka as Avadhani, Maki Yuhi as Oliver, Hina Ayazono as Lily, Kanon Amato as Jangu, Takeru Soa as Rudra, Yuna Miyako as Singerrr, Toa Homa as Robert, Yuri Mizuno as Waterrr, Hanaka Ruri as Malli, Yuzuha Hiroki as Charlie, Towa Aone as Arjun, Kai Mitsurugi as Carter, Chizuru Uta as Sita, Rurina Oka as Firrre,  Kazuto Kisho as Lacchu, and Hayate Taiki as Ryan.

Based on SS Rajamouli’s film with script and direction by Takaya Tani, RRR centers on the fictional versions of two Indian revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, their friendship, and their fight against the British Raj. The film became a breakout international success, elevating the Telugu film industry to new heights and taking home an Oscar for the energetically spectacular song "Naatu Naatu."
