Second Stage Theater has announced the lineup for this year's Judith Champion Reading Series, and the inaugural Nancy Denovan Musical Reading. Both programs will provide one-night-only public readings to early career writers, continuing Second Stage's commitment to nurturing American playwrights.
The lineup will begin with The Apiary by Kate Douglas as directed by Kate Whoriskey April 24. Following will be The Woods by Jahna Ferron-Smith May 1 and Chinese Republicans by Alex Lin as directed by Chay Yew May 22. The inaugural musical reading will be Britton & The Sting May 15.
All readings are free. All readings are held at 6:30 PM on Monday evenings, at the Tony Kiser Theater.
“Supporting writers at the beginning of their careers is a crucial element of Second Stage’s mission, which is why we are so excited for another year of the New Voices series,” said Second Stage president and artistic director Carole Rothman. “We can’t wait to see what Kate, Jahna, Alex, and Britton have created on stage at the Tony Kiser Theater.”
