Classic Arts News Indra Thomas to Debut in Italy Rising soprano Indra Thomas will make her Italian operatic debut in June at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, her spokesperson said.
Thomas will appear as Amelia in Verdi's Un ballo in maschera on June 14,18, 20, and 25. She replaces Andrea Gruber, who cancelled a scheduled appearance in the role.

The American-born Thomas, a Verdi specialist, sang Aida at the Lyric Opera of Chicago in 2004 and is currently singing the same role at Michigan Opera Theatre. Her future engagements include Leonora in La forza del destino in Tokyo and Amelia in Hamburg and Florence.
