The McKittrick Hotel, home of the immersive hit Sleep No More, will present the New York premiere of The National Theatre of Scotland’s The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart this fall. The new show, created by writer David Greig (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) and director Wils Wilson, is billed as a “music-filled folk theatre fable.”
Performances of The Strange Undoing of Prudencia will begin November 16 in The Heath, the Hotel’s bar and music venue. The space will be transformed into a Scottish Pub for the staging, which will feature a full Scottish cast made up of Annie Grace, Melody Grove, Peter Hannah, Alasdair Macrae, and Paul McCole. The production will officially open December 13.
“The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart unfolds among and around its audience, weaving an ingenious, lyrical and enchanting story told with live music throughout its intimate and supernatural setting,” state production notes. The show features design by Georgia McGuinness, movement by Janice Parker, and musical direction by Alasdair Macrae. Tickets are now on sale through January 8.
