Menzel, whose concert tour Barefoot at the Symphony was conducted by Hamlisch, headlines the 7:30 PM evening that offers selections from Hamlisch's prolific career, including "What I Did For Love," "The Way We Were," "They're Playing Our Song," "At the Ballet" and more.
The evening also promises appearances by original They're Playing Our Song cast members Arnaz and Tony nominee Klein, as well as original Sweet Smell of Success star d'Arcy James ("Smash," Titanic), London stage star Friedman (Sunday in the Park with George), pianist Cole, vocalists Klea Blackhurst, Vanessa Campagna and Rocky Paterra, and the All-Star College Chorus.
Hamlisch was the Principal Pops Conductor for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. The multi-award winner, whose numerous compositions included A Chorus Line, They're Playing Our Song, The Goodbye Girl, Sweet Smell of Success, "The Way We Were," and more, died Aug. 6, 2012, at the age of 68.
