"I am so excited to star as Joseph alongside Diana," said Young, who met DeGarmo in the 2009 revival of Hair, in a statement.
DeGarmo added, "It's great to be back! I too am so excited to star alongside Ace in the very role I once looked up to years ago as a child in the choir."
Joseph… "is the irresistible family musical about the trials and triumphs of Joseph, Israel's favorite son," according to producer The Independent Presenters Network. "The first collaboration of Andrew Lloyd Webber (Jesus Christ Superstar, Phantom of the Opera, Cats) and Tim Rice (Jesus Christ Superstar, The Lion King), Joseph blends pop, country and rock into an uplifting, technicolored story of biblical proportions. Retelling the Biblical story of Joseph, his eleven brothers and the coat of many colors, this magical musical is full of unforgettable songs including 'Those Canaan Days,' 'Any Dream Will Do' and 'Close Every Door'."
DeGarmo, who became the first "Idol" alum to star on Broadway, has been seen in 9 to 5, Brooklyn: The Musical, Hairspray and Off-Broadway's The Toxic Avenger. Young has also been seen on Broadway in Grease.
