Readings and Workshops Hunter Bell, Jeff Bowen, and Ann McNamee's Other World to Receive NYC Staged Readings

The new musical follows two friends suddenly transported into a favorite video game.

Other World, a new musical with a book by Tony nominee Hunter Bell, and music and lyrics by Obie winner Jeff Bowen and singer-songwriter Ann McNamee, will present invite-only staged readings March 16 and March 17.

The readings will feature direction by Jenn Rapp (The Illusionists) and choreography by Karla Puno Garcia (Tick, Tick ... BOOM!). The musical is being developed in creative consultation with the WĒTĀ Workshop (The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies).

Other World follows two friends, Sri and Lorraine, when they are suddenly transported into Sri's favorite video game, where they have to work together to survive the race against the clock.

The company for the reading will include Micah Beauvais (Sri), Bella Coppola (Lorraine), Ryan Andes (Roman/Antagon), Madeleine Doherty (Myra), Kaden Kearney (Tris), Brandi Porter (Temula), Mikaela Secada (Jamie), with Sojouner Brown, Elena Camp, Sommer Carbuccia, Laura Dadap, Seth Rettberg, Sherisse Springer, Blake Stadnik, Levin Valayil, and Jason Williams.

The creative team for the reading will include music director Amanda Morton (KPOP), casting director Paul Hardt, video designer Khristian Bork (Coco live at the Hollywood Bowl, Danny Elfman - Coachella), sound designer Hidenori Nakajo (Octet), and general manager Alchemy Production Group (The Music Man, Come From Away). The Executive Producer is Lauren Tucker/Alchemy Production Group.

The work received a world premiere at Delaware Theatre Company in 2022 after a 2020 run at Pennsylvania's Bucks County Playhouse was indefinitely postponed due to COVID-19.
