Directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway will officially open Nov. 10. Performances continue through Jan. 1, 2012.
Jackman is joined on stage by Robin Campbell, Kearran Giovanni, Anne Otto, Lara Seibert, Hilary Michael Thompson and Emily Tyra.
In a statement in the show's Playbill, Jackman says, "Last summer, as I was watching Sting perform in Detroit, my friend and agent Patrick Whitesell turned to me and said, 'All right, enough talking about it, you need to get your show together.' Well, thanks in part to Patrick and his extra push, here it is…. Developing a one-man show has always been a dream of mine, and after successful runs in San Francisco and Toronto, I couldn’t be more thrilled to continue this adventure here in New York. As an actor, I have always tried to explore as many opportunities as possible, but to be honest, the number of those that I’ve been fortunate enough to gain access to has turned out to be more than I ever thought possible! But of all the doors that have opened, none have felt as naturally rewarding to me as being able to perform in the theatre. Tonight, at the Broadhurst Theatre, I hope to share with you some of the eclectic world that is my career. From Australia to Broadway, to Hollywood and back again, I want to share with you some of that journey. This show could not have come to fruition without the help of my friends and collaborators — a big thank you to my great buddy and rock superstar Richard Marx, to Warren Carlyle, Patrick Vaccariello, Robert Fox and Kenny Ortega. Thank you also to the amazing cast, crew and orchestra who have worked so hard to help me fulfill a dream. But most importantly, thank you, the audience, as without your support we have nothing! Hugh Jackman P.S. Thanks to Sting, too!!!" The Broadway engagement, which features an 18-piece orchestra, follows limited runs in Toronto and San Francisco.
