Broadway's Shucked has announced digital lottery and general rush policies, ahead of the show's first preview March 8 at the Nederlander Theatre. Opening night is April 4.
A limited number of $40 lottery tickets will be available for each performance. Organized through BroadwayDirect, entries will open at 8 AM the day prior to each performance, and will remain open until 2 PM. Entrants may enter once a day, and should they win, they may purchase up to two tickets.
Additionally, a limited number of in-person rush tickets will be available on the day of each performance for $35 from the Nederlander box office. Like lottery tickets, entrants may purchase up to two tickets at the discounted rate.
Details on the plot of this original comedy are scarce, with press notes revealing little more about the "farm-to-fable musical" than a collection of corn puns: "Shucked is about to turn Broadway on its ear and offer a kernel of hope for our divided nation." The show features a book by Tony winner Robert Horn (Tootsie, 13), with three-time Tony winner Jack O'Brien (Hairspray, The Front Page) at the helm.
As previously announced, Mean Girls star Grey Henson, Alex Newell, Ashley D. Kelley, John Behlmann, Kevin Cahoon, Andrew Durand, and Caroline Innerbichler lead the musical.
They're joined by an ensemble comprising Jimmy Brewer, Audrey Cardwell, Dwayne Clark, Rheaume Crenshaw, Jaygee Macapugay, Scott Stangland, Yasmeen Sulieman, and Quinn VanAntwerp, rounded out by swings Miki Abraham, Ken Clark, Traci Elaine Lee, and Alan Wiggins.
Shucked features music by the Grammy-winning, Nashville-based songwriting team Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally, choreography by Sarah O’Gleby, and music supervision, music direction, orchestrations, and arrangements by Tony nominee Jason Howland. Scenic design is by Scott Pask, and Tilly Grimes is handling costumes.
