Vaccination and Mask Policy for Broadway and Off-Broadway Shows in NYC - Valid Until Further Notice
Broadway has been back in business since August 2021 with COVID-19 safety protocols keeping thousands of patrons safe eight shows a week. With protocols beginning to change, here's an easy cheat sheet to put your mind at ease.
As of July 1, 2022 masks are optional, but encouraged, for audiences attending a Broadway show. As of April 30, 2022, COVID vaccinations are also no longer required for Broadway shows. Individual productions are able to implement their own policies, and in some cases do so for select performances
Off-Broadway shows have also moved to make masks optional and are no longer checking for COVID vaccinations. Shows and theatres could change this policy at any time, so check the official production or theatre company website for the latest.
Do I have to figure out a different set of COVID safety procedures for each Broadway theatre?
Short answer: Most likely, no. When in doubt, look to the show's official website or the point of purchase for your tickets. Some productions have implemented masking requirements for select performances, but that information should be clear when purchasing tickets.
