The preemptively-extended Broadway revival of William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet has announced its rush and lottery ticket policies, as well as a number of exclusive floor seats that will be available at each performance.
Scheduled to begin previews September 26 at the Circle in the Square Theatre with an official opening October 24, the production will play through February 16, 2025. Sam Gold is directing.
Emmy winner Kit Connor (Heartstopper) and Golden Globe winner Rachel Zegler (María in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story) will star in the revival, which will feature music by Grammy winner Jack Antonoff and movement by Tony winner Sonya Tayeh.
The production will offer a limited number of $49 tickets via both in-person rush and a digital lottery, subject to availability. Rush tickets will be available for purchase beginning when the box office opens on the day of the performance. Connor and Zegler will be joined by Gabby Beans (Skin of Our Teeth) as Mercutio/The Friar, Tommy Dorfman (13 Reasons Why) as The Nurse/Tybalt, Nihar Duvvuri as Balthazar, Sola Fadiran (Camelot) as Capulet/Lady Capulet, Daniel Bravo Hernández as Abraham, Taheen Modak as Benvolio, Jasai Chase-Owens (The Expanse) as Gregory, Gían Pérez (Sing Street) as Samson/Paris/Peter, and understudies Missy Malek, Timothy Oh, Susannah Perkins (The Wolves), and Daniel Velez. Casting is by Taylor Williams.
The production will also have scenic design by dots, costume design by Enver Chakartash, lighting design by Isabella Byrd, sound design by Tony winner Cody Spencer, hair, wig, and makeup design by Robert Pickens and Katie Gell, and violence by Drew Leary.
Claire Warden will serve as intimacy director, Gigi Buffington will serve as voice and text coach, and Michael Sexton and Ayanna Thompson will serve as dramaturgy and text consultants. Production stage management is by Rachel Bauder, Juniper Street Productions is the production manager, and 101 Productions, Ltd will serve as general manager.
Press notes for the revival describe the classic tragedy as such: "The youth are fucked. Left to their own devices in their parents’ world of violent ends, an impulsive pair of star-crossed lovers hurtle towards their inescapable fate. The intoxicating high of passion quickly descends into a brutal chaos that can only end one way."
The limited engagement of Romeo + Juliet will be produced on Broadway by Seaview.
