News Helen Hayes Awards Set New Requirements for Eligibility TheatreWashington has released the updated guide to Helen Hayes Awards eligibility. In 2016, actors must be compensated at least $12.50 per rehearsal day for the production to be considered professional.

As previously reported, a new system was put in place in September 2013 that restructures the voting and judging of the awards that celebrate excellence in Washington, DC-area professional theatre.

The new guide, released here, states that (among other criteria) the weekly rehearsal rate for actors is $75, the per diem rehearsal rate (based on six rehearsal days per week) is $12.50 per rehearsal day, the performance weekly rate is $150 and the per-performance rate (based on eight shows per week) is $18.75 per performance.

The minimum compensation per production is $750 for directors, $500 for designers, $500 for musical directors and $500 for choreographers.
