News Hartford Stage Adds An Extra Performance of Anastasia Due to high ticket demand, the theatre has scheduled an additional matinee.

Due to high ticket demand, Hartford Stage has announced an additional performance of Anastasia, the new musical from the Tony-winning Ragtime team, Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty and Terrence McNally. An additional matinee performance has been scheduled June 15 at 2 PM, making it the ninth additional performance added to the original schedule.

Anastasia the Musical

Performances began May 13 under the direction of Tony Award winner Darko Tresnjak (A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder), for an engagement set to run through June 19.

Anastasia opens May 27.

Based on the 1997 animated musical film of the same name, the stage show incorporates a mix of songs from the film as well as new numbers. The story follows a young woman's journey through Russia and Paris as she attempts to discover the mysteries of her past.

How Ahrens and Flaherty Are Re-Envisioning Anastasia For the Stage

Christy Altomare (Mamma Mia!) stars in the title role and Derek Klena (Bridges of Madison County) plays her love interest Dimitry. The cast also includes Mary Beth Peil, Manoel Felciano, John Bolton, Caroline O'Connor, Nicole Scimeca, Lauren Blackman, James Brown III, Max Clayton, Janet Dickinson, Constantine Germanacos, Rayanne Gonzales, Ken Krugman, Kevin Ligon, Alida Michal, Shina Ann Morris, Kevin Munhall, Molly Rushing, Johnny Stellard and Samantha Sturm; as well as swing performers Maxwell Carmel, Katherine McLellan and Riley Briggs.
