Industry News Hansol Jung and Dael Orlandersmith Among Recipients of DGF Writers Alliance Grants The Dramatists Guild Foundation awards $5,000 grants to 12 writers and ten nonprofit theatres.

The Dramatists Guild Foundation has announced the recipients of the second annual DGF Writers Alliance Grants. The grants give $5,000 to a nonprofit theatre’s production of a new work and $5,000 to the writer or writing team behind said work.

DGF is a charitable organization and supports playwrights, composers, lyricist, and book writers at all stages of their careers. The organization offers educational programming, mentorships, fellowships, emergency aid, and resources to help writers create new works.


The recipients of the 2019 WAGs are:

Theatre: Amphibian Stage Productions, in Fort Worth, TX

Writer: Hansol Jung, writer of Wolf Play
Theatre: Artists Repertory Theatre, in Portland, OR

Writers: Bill Nelson & Joseph Trefler, writers of Men with Money
Theatre: Aurora Theatre, in Lawrenceville, GA

Writers: Dael Orlandersmith and Antonio Suarez, writers of Antonio's Song/I Was Dreaming of a Son
Theatre: Contemporary American Theater Festival in Shepherdstown, WV

Writer: Gus Schulenburg, writer of Operating Systems
Theatre: Flux Theatre Ensemble in Forest Hills, NY

Writer: Nambi E. Kelley, writer of Jazz
Theatre: Marin Theatre Company in Mill Valley, CA

Writer: Christopher Johnston, writer of Live Bodies for Sale
