What’s New Pussycat?, a new musical incorporating the songs of “It’s Not Unusual” hit-maker Tom Jones, is preparing for a private London reading next week.

Flody Suarez, who is also producing The Cher Show on Broadway next season, and the Ambassador Theatre Group are developing the jukebox musical that is aiming for a London premiere.

Set in the swinging '60s of London, the musical is loosely based on the Henry Fielding novel Tom Jones. The show’s book is by Tony Award-winning Memphis book writer Joe DiPietro (All Shook Up, Nice Work If You Can Get It), and is directed by Tony nominee Scott Ellis (She Loves Me, You Can’t Take It With You).

The reading cast will include Richard Fleeshman (Ghost), Hannah Waddingham (Game of Thrones, Spamalot), Haydn Gwynne (Billy Elliot, Beauty and the Beast), Jason Pennycooke (Hamilton, La Cage aux Folles), and Amy Lenox (Lazarus, Kinky Boots).
