The production, which is billed as a new intimate adaptation of Maury Yeston and Peter Stone's lushly scored musical about the doomed ocean liner, will run through July 28.
Original cast member Don Stephenson, who portrayed Charles Clarke in the 1997 Broadway production of Titanic, directs the new staging that uses a cast of 20 (pared down from the original 40) and projections to tell the epic story. Choreography is by Liza Gennaro (Once Upon a Mattress, The Most Happy Fella).
Original Broadway musical director, musical supervisor and conductor Kevin Stites, who has been musical director for numerous productions of Titanic since its Broadway bow, serves as musical supervisor at the Hangar. Ian Weinberger serves as musical director and conductor.
Cuervo plays Ida Strauss, with Youmans as Ismay, McVety as Etches, Christianne Tisdale (On A Clear Day...) as Alice Beane, Phillip Hoffman as Edgar Beane, Joneil Joplin as Captain Smith and Tony Award nominee Tom Hewitt (Rocky Horror Show, Jesus Christ Superstar) as Andrews.
Completing the cast are Will Boyajian, Sarah Charles, Xander Chauncey, Katie Drinkard, Jeremy Ellison Gladstone, Elizabeth Hake, Greg Kamp, John Langley, Matt Madden, Christian Palmer, Noah Plomgren, Ariella Serur and David Studwell. The musical has a Tony-winning score by Yeston (Grand Hotel, Nine) and a Tony-winning book by the late Stone (The Will Rogers Follies, 1776). Titanic won 1997 Tony Awards for Best Book of a Musical (Stone), Best Musical, Best Orchestrations (Jonathan Tunick), Best Score (Yeston) and Best Scenic Design (Stewart Laing).
