The Red Bull Theater’s New York premiere of The Government Inspector, starring Mary Testa and Michael Urie, oficially opened Off-Broadway June 1. The production, a limited engagement directed by Artistic Director Jesse Berger, will run through June 24 at The Duke on 42nd Street.
The Government Inspector is adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher from Nikolai Gogol’s Russian satire Revizor. When the crooked leadership of a provincial village learns that an undercover inspector is planning to expose their corruption, the town weaves a web of bribery, lies, and silliness.
