In the episode, Kevin (Casey Cott) directs his fellow Riverdale High classmates in a production of the cult musical Carrie, including Cheryl Blossom (played on screen by Madelaine Petsch) as the title role, Archie (K.J. Apa) as Tommy Ross, Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes) as Chris Hargensen, Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) as Sue Snell, and Alice Cooper (Mädchen Amick) as Margaret White.
The musical adaptation of Stephen King's novel premiered in Stratford-upon-Avon in 1988. The Broadway bow, which featured Tony winner Betty Buckley as Carrie's mother Margaret, closed after 16 previews and five regular performances.
